The school bell has rung, class is now in session.
We are 40 days away from the New Year of 2025. For some people, it is a new beginning, for others it is a time to set resolutions, and for those in the middle, it is a time to break resolutions. Whichever category you fall into, let it also be a time of healing. Healing from past traumas, physically, mentally and spiritually.

I started reflecting on this topic because I was listening to a podcast when someone said something along the lines of, “You cannot heal in the same environment that caused the trauma.” This was so profound to me, because it reminded me of how we tell children (and sometimes adults, lol), not to pick at scabs.

Why do we say that? Because if we pick at the scab, it will continue to bring trauma to the area, thereby hindering the healing process.
This could be the reason our own healing process is taking so long. We are continuing to remain in environments, or we continue to keep people/situations in our environment that hurt us.

As we approach the New Year, try reflecting on the following questions:
- Am I in a relationship that continuously causes me pain, and anguish?
- Am I involved in an organization that has constantly inflicted trauma in my life?
- Am I in a situation that is not productive or life-giving?
- Are my thoughts constantly negative towards myself and others?
- Am I eating and drinking foods that bring trauma to my body inside and out?
As you reflect on these questions, think about the saying, “You cannot heal in the same environment that caused the trauma” then take out a notebook, and write down a 2025 New Years Goal on how you plan to cultivate an environment of healing in your mind, body, relationships, organizations, and all situations.
Think about your healing as a beautiful garden. You have to be very intentional if you want a garden to become beautiful. You will need the right environment (tools, sunlight, food, water and soil). Your healing will take some work, but in the end, it will all be worth it. You will go from Exhibit A to Exhibit B.

This will take some time, but it will be worth it, because YOU are worth it.

#Praying for the healing of all who read.

The school bell has rung, class dismissed!
